Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will perform a variety of accounting activities that assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and the financial reporting package. To be successful as a Senior Accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and be able to work with limited supervision. This position offers a solid opportunity for growth as the organization expands.

DUTIES AND/OR OVERSIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates accounting functions and programs
  • Maintains general ledgers for multiple entities
  • Prepares financial analyses and reports
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow
  • Assists with monthly financial consolidation of operating company results
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books
  • Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
  • Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • Assists with required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Prepares revenue projections and forecasting expenditure
  • Assists with preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Assists with acquisition due diligence and integration

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience is required.
