The Senior Associate is a senior professional at our firm that provides high level project management and support on client projects including facilitation, organizational assessments, policy analysis, and public manager recruitment support. The person in this position must be able to navigate and adapt to different types of client projects and circumstances. Because we are a small firm, assignments can vary from managing large complex projects to doing mundane tasks. This position is responsible for diverse tasks such as:

• Managing large and complex projects from inception to completion (process development to implementation)
• Interviews of elected officials, public employees, and candidates (for client recruitments)
• Leading meeting facilitation for City Council retreats, high-level multi-interest committees, inter-jurisdictional task forces, and workshops
• Designing and implementing approaches to complex public policy research and analysis
• Leading and conducting operational and cultural assessments of client programs, departments, or workplace environment, and decision-making processes
• Writing clear and succinct work products including reports, memos, summaries, fact sheets, and minutes (including formatting documents for readability)
• Client communications (phone, email, etc.)
• Organization and summary of complex data including preparation of matrices, informational materials, and meeting handouts per data provided
• Other administrative duties, as needed

The position requires excellent professional writing, organization, attention to detail, customer focus, a problem-solving attitude, and strong interpersonal/communication skills. The ideal candidate has at least five years’ experience working for or with local government, a Master of Public Administration degree (or similar) and is committed to the principles of good governance and public service.

Hours / Work Location

The position is full-time (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday. Occasional evening meetings or overnight travel may be required to support client projects within Oregon and Washington.

Compensation

Salary: $70,0000 - $95,000 annually. Medical/dental/vision insurance and SIMPLE IRA (with employer match) provided. Annual profit sharing bonus eligible after six months. Compensation will depend on experience and expertise.
