Shentel is the largest Sprint PCS affiliate in the United States and currently provides wireless service to approximately 1,200,000 customers. As an affiliate company, Shentel has exclusive rights to provide Sprint wireless service to certain markets. Shentel currently serves a four-state area - including markets within Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Shentel builds and owns the network and owns and operates the Sprint retail stores. Shentel is also responsible for local customer service and directs local advertising and promotions.
Job Summary:
The Project Manager SR position ensures the timely, safe and cost-effective construction of Shentel transmission sites, towers, collocations, outside plant projects (coax, copper and fiber optic) and civil site development. Under minimal supervision, coordinates with contractors, public utilities, equipment vendors, third parties and internal departments to achieve project objectives. Additionally, the incumbent must be competent at the full scope of project management duties associated with the deployment of multi-service telecommunications networks. Position will report to the Construction manager and must be able to work in a team environment, working cross functionally within the operations organization.
Qualifications Requirements:
1. Education: College degree preferred. Other candidates with a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant work and/or military experience will be considered.
2. Experience:
i. Three to five years of telecommunications experience required.
ii. Three to five years of project management/coordination experience required.
iii. Three to five years of utility construction experience required.
1. Skills:
1. Experience in MS Word, Excel and Project Management software (Sitetracker, Smartsheet).
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. General understanding of data networking, including design, troubleshooting, and configuration of various wired and wireless network topologies, CATV systems and coaxial design and construction.
4. Excellent organization and documentation skills.
5. Project and/or Construction management certification(s) preferred.
6. Available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business require.
7. Ability to travel for training or as required.
8. Ability to work independently, work with teams and communicate effectively.
9. Ability to lead construction teams.
