Job Description – Staff Accountant

Accounting Solutions well-established rapidly growing regional CPA and Business Consulting firm specializing in tax and business consulting for small to medium size organizations. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparation of financial statements and a variety of individual and business tax returns. This position includes direct client contact with the ability to work independently with appropriate oversight. Staff Accountants must be self-motivated and ambitious. You must also be highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively balance speed and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to get along well with coworkers are required. Our ideal candidate has at least one year of professional accounting experience in the public and/or private sectors.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties

  • Responsible for accounting assignments under the direction of a shareholder or manager
  • Complete multiple simultaneous engagements of low to medium complexity with an emphasis on quality standards, timely completion, and profitability
  • Adhere to firm policies and processes at all times
  • Remain up-to-date on industry changes and changes in regulations
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations at all times
  • Advise business owners and individuals regarding the tax code
  • Conduct tax interviews with clients
  • Request, collect, and compile all necessary documents
  • Coordinate with other members of the firm on income tax research and planning
  • Organize and file all federal, state, and local income tax documents
  • Prepare and review financial statements for clients
  • Process state and federal payroll taxes
  • Reconcile bank and other financial statements
  • Maintain constant communication with the IRS, State Agencies, and our clients
  • Maintain and organize digital and physical financial records

Occasional Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist shareholders and managers in developing and implementing effective accounting policies and processes
  • Actively participate in the firm’s business development efforts
  • Professionally represent the firm at business and community functions
  • Represent the firm through participation in professional, charitable, and/or civic organizations
  • Lifting requirements of 30 pounds to carry bags, computers, and peripheral equipment to client locations

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • CPA Eligible
  • 1-3 years public accounting experience
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and be success oriented
  • Ability to work with a variety of software packages is a plus, tax software UltraTax CS, Thompson Reuters
  • Tax compliance experience with individuals, partnerships, corporations and non-profits
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting software and MS Office
  • Good communication and organizational skills; confident working with clients
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks and financial statements; Quickbooks ProAdvisor certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
