Daycon Products Company, a leading manufacturer and distributor of building maintenance supplies and services, is in search of an accounting professional to join our Upper Marlboro, MD based finance team in the position of Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller in overseeing Daycon’s accounting operations and the execution of accurate and timely reporting to the parent company, Envoy Solutions, LLC. This role is involved with key accounts and activities pertaining to the maintenance of the general ledger and timely completion of monthly financial statements. The Staff Accountant will serve in the following areas: General Ledger; month-end close; posting and reconciliation of journal entries; financial account reconciliation / maintenance throughout the month to support the financial statements at month end; maintaining Deviation and Vendor rebates; bank and account reconciliations.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Support financial integration initiatives with parent company, Envoy Solutions, LLC; collaborate on projects to reach business objectives.
• Under direction of Accounting Manager, prepare monthly closing journal entries. This includes obtaining data from source systems, reconciliations and following up on reconciling items with internal and external parties.
• Maintain reconciliation of intercompany between subsidiaries and sister companies. Follow up as needed to resolve differences.
• Maintain fixed asset schedule.
• Customer and vendor rebate accruals and tracking.
• Sales tax reporting.
• Daily cash reconciliations.
• Prepare / review customer GL upload file billing including reconciliation to source systems.
• Maintain and implement accounting controls to be SOX compliant.
• Prepare PBCs during financial audits to fulfill requests timely and act as a liaison with external auditors.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure that reconciling items are resolved timely.
• Prepare monthly customer dashboards.
• Prepare financial analyses and reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Pulling ad hoc reports from MITs or other data sources for analysis.
• Use Excel based “F9” to pull GL data for ad hoc analysis.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or Related Field; dual major in Finance a plus
• 2-4 years of relevant / progressive experience in corporate accounting at $300m+ or Accounting audit practice serving the same amount.
• Experience supporting a distribution firm a plus.
• Experience in a SOX environment a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Financial statement preparation experience required.
• A high degree of business acumen
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline driven environment.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience preparing and posting journal entries a plus.
• AS400 software experience a plus.
• Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word and advanced / expert Excel skills
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
