We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team of Accountants. This position is for a person with superior attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility who is able to remain calm under pressure

Job Title: Accountant- Experienced 5+ years

Non-Exempt

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Summary: The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager and CFO in performing various accounting duties including but not limited to review of accounts payable, generating monthly financial and budget variance reports, analyzing variance trends and proposing solutions for negative variances, accounting support for other management positions and balance sheet reconciliations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Understanding GAAP, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and generation of monthly financial reports to include supporting spreadsheets.

· Reconciliation of multiple monthly bank accounts, review of State B & O reports and generation of City B & O reports.

· Assist with annual budget processes.

· Coordinate year-end cash planning, taxable life calculations and year end accruals and reconciliations to ensure tax returns are completed in a timely manner by CPA firm.

· Ensure correct payroll interface with payroll system.

· Analyze and track all prepaid expenses to ensure proper amortization of expenses.

· Work with Pension plan administrators and auditors to ensure retirement plan is compliant and employee education is provided regarding plan. (To include preparation and filing of 5500 form.)

· Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.

· Additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager and/or CFO.

· Back up Accounts Payable functions.

· Back up Payroll functions.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, highly skilled in Excel. Position requires that the employee keep all company and related financial information confidential.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting with five (5) or more years of experience in equivalent supervision and accounting responsibilities.

Certificates and Licenses:

Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and contracts. Ability to generate correspondence and memos, and able to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Math Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:

Significant attention to detail with the ability to apply high degree of reasoning skills from written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in new situations.

The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms to type. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear on the telephone and in person with individuals and groups. The employee is rarely required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must rarely lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Extensive keyboard typing is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to include extensive computer screen work and ability to adjust focus to produce or review reports.

This position may require occasional local travel.

Starting wage is determined by years of experiance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour
