JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The System Administrator ensures the stable operations of the computer networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software and communication links. The Systems Administrator will maintain a system administration manual summarizing network designs, management procedures, and trouble tickets. Knowledge of relational database theory and terminal work through Unix shell scripts/Cygwin are key functions of the System Administrator.

• Ensures networks are protected from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data by developing and monitoring security procedures using Watchguard Firewall
• Review and analyze hardware, software, application and service needs and recommend changes as needed
• Install , update, test, and maintain new network equipment, servers, databases, and other technology
• Provides technical support and guidance to resolve users computer hardware and software issues
• Coordinates service or replacement of defective products from vendors
• Maintains knowledge of trends and development in technology, systems, applications and equipment; applies this knowledge to recommend and acquire technology suitable for the company’s needs
• Maintain email and intranet services, adding and removing users and accounts
• Configure firewalls and other appropriate security tools and applications to conceal and protect transfers of confidential digital information
• Maintain records, logs and metrics related to service and support provided
• Design and create databases, forms, views and reports of various network programs
• Will work with platforms and programs such as Profitkey International (relational database theory), HCL Domino/Notes/Traveler/Nomad network (visual basic), Zito Media, Simplex Access Control, and Microsoft Office among others

• Thorough understanding of network protocols

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving, mechanical parts. The noise level in this environment is typically low to moderate.

Physical Demands

The position may require lifting and/or moving up to 15 pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer will be required. Moderate movement throughout the manufacturing facility will be required

Qualifications/Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent plus 1-3 years of experience are preferred,

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
