POSITION TITLE: Vice President of Lending

REPORTS TO: SVP, Internal Operations

DEPARTMENT: Lending

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to fulfill our vision of inspiring financial wellness. The position must deliver high quality service to both internal and external members by supporting and promoting our values to Care, Listen, Learn, Solve, and Act.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop a highly effective team of employees and developing each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. The Vice President of Lending is responsible for developing, monitoring and maintaining the strategies that will establish and advance FCFCU's Loan Portfolio. In addition to these strategies, the Vice President of Lending will coordinate the review of FCFCU's loan quality trends and provide appropriate input to the leadership team, and as appropriate the Lending Committee or Board of Directors.

The VP leads, manages and holds accountable the AVP of Lending Operations, the Mortgage Department Manager, and Indirect Lending Account Vice President for achievement of credit union objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their areas for improvement and appropriately coaching, training or correcting the employees' performance
  • Hold employees accountable for their performance, attitude and behavior and recognize employees who perform at a high level
  • Meet with each employee monthly to review previous month's performance, set goals for upcoming month's performance and develop plans to improve employee's performance
  • Train and supervise lending staff. Assign, direct, coordinate and review work performed by staff
  • Effectively operates department and staff goal setting and meeting structure within EOS framework, to include establishment of regular recurring L10 meetings, goal setting and people analyzer tools to support right people right seat strategies.
  • Develops loan policies, procedures, guidelines, loan goals and loan products (in accordance with standards established by the leadership team and the Board of Directors)
  • Develops goals annually, tracking results and holding employees accountable
  • Monitor actual and budget expenses to ensure variances are contained within Credit Union tolerance levels
  • Create, recommend and implement efficiency improvements that will save money, save time or result in additional revenues
  • Participate on Board / Management Committees that includes, but not limited to, Lending and Pricing Committees. Coordinate meeting schedule and agenda with committee chairperson as required
  • Responsible for preparation of committee reports, including the agenda, and all relevant supporting data
  • May be asked to attend Board meetings. Coordinate preparation of the written reports for the Board meeting. Conduct oral presentations at the Board meeting as required
  • Assist leadership team, Board, and management in developing strategic plan. Participates in Board/Management strategic planning sessions. Actively work towards achieving strategic goals
  • Interacts with credit union vendors and business partners. Analyze vendor data and service levels for compliance with contractual requirements. Negotiate timely, favorable contractual terms with existing and potential vendors. Complete due diligence and make recommend contracts for approval
  • Monitor loan applications for quality and potential business opportunities to ensure loan quality and quantity goals are met
  • Knowledgeable about the automated lending systems used by the credit union by creating and developing reports to determine the system's performance
  • Be the primary consumer lending officer for the credit union
  • Make recommendations to the Board for loans to Board and Supervisory Committee Members and CEO
  • Maintain good communication with lending and Member Solutions personnel
  • Leads the Credit Union initiative of “Keeping Members in their Home” within the guidelines of the National lending initiatives dealing with Trouble Assets
  • Manage the First Mortgage program with third party Investors which includes knowledge of the Secondary Marketing requirements of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for FHA and VA lending
  • Primary lending contact with the Credit Unions Regulators (NCUA and Indiana DFI) during annual CU review
  • Adhere to all Credit Union lending policies and procedures with every loan request
  • Support relationship lending and pricing program and make credit decisions
  • Become and remain knowledgeable of all Credit Union services and products
  • Develop and implement new products and services
  • Manage and recommend pricing and fee changes to leadership team.
  • Become and remain knowledgeable of regional and national lending environment
  • Participates in Community events and charities that are critical to the Credit Unions mission of giving back to the community
  • When assigned, employee is to participate and complete applicable required training or compliance certification. Attend bi-annual recertification training to maintain NCCO certification
