Description & Requirements of Our Part-time Seasonal Accounting Clerk


We are looking for a professional with a friendly attitude and the ability to multitask, to process monthly accounting and financial transitions. As a member of the Corporate Finance team, you will be responsible for a variety of financial functions with an emphasis in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash entries. Your ability to work independently in a fluctuating environment with an emphasis on organization and accuracy would be vital.


A couple other special notes about our Part-time Seasonal Accounting Clerk:


  • This is a part-time position, with an average of 20-25 hours per week.
  • Being a seasonal role, you can expect a minimum employment period of 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
  • You will need to have reliable transportation and the ability to work in person out of our Rockford, IL office.


The Accounting Clerk can expect to focus their work in the following areas:


  • With your expertise in accounting, you will record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • While maintaining accuracy, you will get the opportunity to thoroughly manage our records and all aspects of accounts payable including validating and processing vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, credit card transactions, and payments.
  • With clear communication and ability to guide, you will assist employees in the use of their corporate credit card program.
  • You will process accounts receivable receipts and coordinate bank deposits in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Your initiative and enthusiasm for excellence will help ensure appropriate follow through on all assignments and inquiries to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Because you are a team player and servant leader, you will provide administrative support and other duties as necessary to the Assistant Controller and other members of the Corporate Finance Team.


The Accounting Clerk position typically requires the following qualifications:

  • You will possess or be in process of obtaining at least a minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • You will exude a proven understanding of accounting and accounting practices.
  • You will be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Because you will work with all levels of employees, you will be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally, as well as maintain strict confidentiality in your work.
  • Because we use Microsoft Office Suite daily, you will have had at least 2 years of previous experience so that you can hit the ground running.

  • You will be a mentor and train new staff in accounting procedures and general office procedures as well as provide mentorship and be a role model for other team members.

  • You will assist in in the development and implementation of best practices and continuous improvements for the accounting department.
  • You will have the technical skills to understand utilize various accounting software applications; Microsoft Dynamics GP and Concur Invoice preferred.
