Airframe and Powerplant (“A&P”) Instructor
to serve as a “Training Consultant” in Saudi Arabia

Employer: Spartan KSA, LLC, an affiliate of Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology

Location: Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (“KSA”)

Reporting: Reports to the Spartan Director (an employee of Spartan KSA based part-time in the U.S. and part-time in Saudi Arabia) with daily duties managed by the Director of Aircraft Technology and Maintenance Training (ATMT) at the Prince Sultan Aviation Academy (PSAA)

Summary
This position assists with A&P training at the PSAA. Primary duties will include consultation and conducting technical training classes for students in connection with PSAA’s maintenance training program, which is certified under the Part 147 standards of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (“GACA”). GACA’s Part 147 requirements are similar to Part 147 requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States.

  • Teaches one or more assigned classes that are part of the PSAA A&P program
  • Compile and maintain student grade and attendance records and other required paperwork
  • Follow and maintain daily lesson plans and Study Guides, ensure their compliance with the current GACA Regulations (“GACAR”) (similar to the FAA) Part 147 Certification Manual through input to the Lead Instructor and/or Director of ATMT
  • Comply with established procedures as noted in the GACAR Part 147 Certification Manual
  • Comply with established policies and procedures of Spartan KSA and PSAA
  • Administer and grade lab projects and theory exams required for the course of instruction assigned
  • Maintain lab equipment
  • Report supplies and expendable materials needed for class to Lead Instructor and/or Director of ATMT
  • Ensure student compliance with all established student policies and procedures
  • Provide student remediation as needed and within a normal workday
  • Assist in student retention
  • Compile and maintain records of attendance for time missed to provide adequate opportunities for students to make up time missed as necessary within a normal workday
  • Provides consulting to the management of ATMT on curriculum design; FAA-GACA program differences; courseware concepts; methods of instruction; training equipment lists, quantities and sources; student consumables lists, quantities and sources; and student management policies
  • Will not conduct extensive courseware development beyond adapting existing materials for assigned courses, unless otherwise directed by the Spartan Director

Education and Work Experience

  • Associate degree and 4+ years of experience (or) High School diploma and 8+ years’ experience
  • Instruction of international students in U.S. or aviation maintenance duties in international environment highly desired

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Note that PSAA will assist Spartan A&P Instructors (Training Consultants) to obtain a KSA GACA Airframe and Powerplant certificate upon arrival in KSA. PSAA will provide training in preparation for the GACA A&P written test. Employees must successfully pass the GACA test to continue employment.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of computer with ability to edit and create documents using Microsoft office products
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, staff, and students
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, and solid geometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to lift, handle, or feel; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or balance up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Employee must be able to successfully pass medical examination and be physically able to deploy to location with sustained extreme ambient temperatures.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat and possibly wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. A moderate risk of radiation exposure is possible. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.

While performing duties of this job, the employee will be working for and with international training supervisors and instructors, as well as international students. The employee must demonstrate cultural and religious sensitivity at all times, including in off-duty hours and locations in KSA. The employee may not wear clothing, jewelry or body markings that are offensive to the host nation, host organization, students or general population.
Additional Requirements and Compensation Information
This position’s duties will require the employee to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a minimum of 6 months or more at a time. The employee must possess a U.S. passport with at least 18 months validity until expiration. The employee must be able to obtain a KSA visa as coordinated by Spartan KSA. All duties will be performed in the English language. Employees may deploy as individuals or with family, as desired. However, all family members must also possess valid U.S. Passports with at least 18 months validity and must be able to obtain a KSA visa. Employees and any family members in KSA will be required to physically exit KSA approximately every 90 days to revalidate their visas. This may be accomplished by flying or driving to an acceptable neighboring country for as little as one day. Spartan KSA will fund initial and renewal visas for the employee and deploying family members, as applicable. Spartan KSA will fund initial deployment and final deployment travel between U.S. and KSA. Spartan KSA will fund periodic travel out and back from KSA to a neighboring country solely for the purpose of updating visas to satisfy KSA immigration policies. Spartan KSA will provide limited uniform items and IT laptops. Employee will normally utilize the PSAA ATMT IT system for normal instructional and consulting duties, but also will be provided a Spartan KSA IT account for emails, Teams communications and other IT services.

Employee will be paid by Spartan KSA and may be subject to KSA tax withholding and other taxes and fees. Base compensation rates generally are expected to be approximately 75% to 100% above typical AMT Instructor compensation rates in the U.S. Spartan KSA fringe benefits are distinct from Spartan College benefits and will be detailed in Spartan KSA employment offers. While Spartan KSA will assist with information and coordination regarding room and board, these costs will be the responsibility of the employee.
