Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the financial activities of the Bank and holding company, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. Directs activities of finance and investments. Keeps the CEO and President(s) informed concerning operational developments and consults with the latter regarding major decision affecting the bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Manages the bank’s investment portfolio to maximize yield and ensure adequate liquidity, pledges securities to collateralize public deposits and supports repurchase agreements. Consults with investment advisors and others in making recommendations for the bank’s investment portfolio.
II. Is responsible for managing the bank’s liquidity position and maintaining appropriate short and long-term borrowing relationships.
III. Maintains stock records, pays dividends, corresponds with the regulatory agencies and executes procedures to increase capital as directed by the board for both the bank and holding company.
IV. Works closely with officers and other employees who report directly to him or her, evaluating their performance and developing their abilities to manage their respective areas.
V. Is responsible for organization’s asset/liability management process and will be involved in both loan and deposit rate setting discussions being the advocate of enterprise risk management.
VI. Works with municipalities to collateralize public deposits. Works with repurchase agreements, the related paperwork and the communication with customers.
VII. Ensures that federal and state regulations are adhered to and sees to it that appropriate duties are completed correctly.
VIII. As a member of the executive management team, takes an active role in merger and acquisition opportunities that may arise.
IX. Represents the Bank in various business, trade, charity, civic and social organizations to support the community and provide for positive public relations. Participates in community service activities as a representative of the Bank. Speaks at community events and other forums on appropriate topics as requested.
X. Will interact with regulatory agencies and outside auditors to complete financial related material.
XI. Works with lending staff gathering appropriate information and completing quarterly CECL (current expected credit loss) calculation.
XII. Is a part of organization insurance risk management.
XIII. Responsible for needed internal and regulatory financial reporting requirements for both bank and holding company.
XIV. Oversees income tax matters for the bank and holding company.
XV. Keeps abreast of market, key economic data, and regulatory changes which may impact the financial performance of the Bank.
XVI. Maintains up-to-date job knowledge through professional reading, conferences, training and affiliation with appropriate industry organizations.
XVII. Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
