Tacoma Arts Live is recognized for leadership in presenting world-class performing artists, and providing one of the largest performing arts education programs in Washington State - serving 50,000 students, teachers, and families annually in the South Puget Sound.

Position: Communications Manager
The Communications Manager is a leadership position that supports all Tacoma Arts Live communication initiatives and platforms. The role ensures a consistent and unified message that aligns with the organization’s branding, relationship-building focus, and mission-based strategy. The job requires the employee to be onsite in Tacoma approximately one day per week, with the other days onsite or remote, as desired.
The Communications Manager is a member of Tacoma Arts Live’s Marketing & Presenting Team.
Salary is $53,000 - $60,000 DOE
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive communications program.
• Evaluate and implement changes to public-facing messages that unify tone and adhere to style guide through all communication platforms.
• In coordination with others, craft copy content for various communication platforms, including social media, website, newsletters, press releases, brochures, event (house) programs, fundraising campaigns, education materials, and other communications tools as necessary.
• Provide editing support and communication style guide recommendations for all teams.
• Create and implement all social media communications.
• Monitor and report on analytics, metrics, and achievements.
• Conceptualize and execute impactful public relations campaigns that support: event announcements, education programs, and highlight Tacoma Arts Live’s mission delivery in community
• Create, implement, and manage all media outreach, including press releases and pitches.
• Manage and update the media section on the website.
• Develop press kit(s) tailored to specific programs and events, as necessary.
• Coordinate creation and distribution of marketing promotional materials and site lists.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three years of professional communication experience, with a solid understanding of communications, event marketing, and promotional experience.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience using social media tools and media relations strategies.
• Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, flexible and a relationship builder.
• A strong interest in the performing arts and the vision, mission, and values of Tacoma Arts Live.
• Creative, energetic, flexible, self-starting team player who can foster collaboration and bring a direct, honest, and respectful approach to problem-solving.
• Relationships with critical journalists and media influencers locally and nationally are a plus.
• Experience with CMS editing platform a plus (Joomla, WordPress)
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Canva a plus
