Our client is searching for a dynamic and strategic Controller for their dealership in Sonoma County. This Controller will be responsible for accurately representing, and keeping records, on the financial condition of the dealership working closely with and for a seasoned Office Manager of the dealership.

Summary

Reports the financial condition of the total dealership regularly and accurately. Provides sales and expense analyses summarizing potential problem areas and opportunities for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.

Essential Duties

· Helps to prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within the required format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.

· Skills to be able to work as a business team.

· Must have CDK automotive experience or is willing to learn the CDK accounting system.

· Analyzes monthly financial statements provided to the leadership team and reports developing trends and accounting information to help manage the company.

· Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.

· Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.

· Maintains and controls the general ledger and all accounting related software.

· Develop formal accounting procedures for accounting staff to implement.

· Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.

· Ensures compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, sales taxes, retirement plan records etc.

· Administers a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.

· Meets with management to evaluate all insurance renewals and purchase insurance as deemed necessary.

· Prepares and processes all insurance claims.

· Coordinates annual physical inventory for accurate year-end reporting.

· Evaluates existing inventory levels with the leadership team and implement any inventory write-downs in the general ledger as deemed necessary.

· Track loaner vehicles in inventory on a monthly basis.

· Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.

· Maintains professional appearance

· Other tasks as assigned

Dealership experience is a plus, but not a requirement

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university;

Three to five years related accounting or controller experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, comprehend and communicate financial information, financial reports, legal documents, insurance information, government compliance documentation and dealership information

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform any math function necessary to perform duties. Strong skills in Excel and the ability to prepare and analyze data is recommended

Reasoning Ability

Ability to problem solve and communicate solutions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
