JOB DESCRIPTION
DIRECTOR OF INFORMATIONAL SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ten years (minimum) of progressive system administration experience, with reporting directly to senior management.
2. Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
3. MCSA, MCSE, or MCITP Certifications.
4. Lead Microsoft Office skills, with an ability to become familiar with trust-specific programs and software.
5. Friendly and professional demeanor.
6. Ability to travel for meetings.
7. Valid State Drivers’ License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
SA Engineering and Provisioning
Develop and implement a continual IT/IS software and hardware evolution plan
Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
Oversee new and rebuild existing servers. Oversee and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Plan, design and implement disaster recovery solutions to ensure Business Continuity
Oversee, plan and configure systems such as: o Vmware Vcenter/ESXi o Microsoft Windows Server Environment o DNS/DHCP/AD/Replication/Cloud Secure Services o Windows 10 o VOIP Systems o WatchGuard Routing and Firewalls o TrendMicro Security Solutions o Brocade fabric switching and routing
Operations and Support
Provide supervision and evaluation of IT/IS personnel
Provide training on Virtual meeting needs and application strategies.
Oversee all Web page development and maintenance.
When requested advise districts on IT/IS concerns
Oversee and perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Oversee and perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Oversee and perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Oversee and perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Oversee and implement the appropriate roles and security as related to user accounts for
FSBIT systems
Lead and provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Plan and oversee the repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Provide all AV and IT support at every board meeting.
Travel to districts to record drone footage of all buildings as requested
Assist in meeting planning and preparation as requested by the Executive Director.
Lead in the recording, storage and tracking of Trust related documents and minutes for the
Executive Director, Director of Business Services, and FSBIT Boards.
Maintenance
Oversee and apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Lead upgrades and configure system software that supports the insurance infrastructure applications
Oversee and maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Lead and perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Lead and perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Lead and maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
STATUS:
Reports to the Executive Director.
JOB GOAL:
Lead IT project development. Maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Oversee and assist member districts in streamlining projects with full utilization of our risk management software to include all aspects of report development available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. The Director of Information Services is responsible for overseeing effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.
2. This individual will lead project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the
definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.
3. This individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems infrastructure;
Network, Windows and Application systems that support insurance systems to include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation and uptime.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Exempt. Full-time position. Normal working days are Monday thru Friday, normal working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.
2. Directors can and will work outside these days and hours and can be placed in an
“on call” status during emergency events either with our members or with the
Trust.
3. Daily travel possible. Overnight travel can be up to 50%. Travel outside of the state of Florida is less than 5%.
4. Salary to be established by the Executive Director and approved by the FSBIT
Board of Trustees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Speak, read, write and comprehend English.
2. Push, pull up to 30 lbs. Lift and carry 30 lbs.
