The County of Waldo is seeking a Finance Director who is responsible for all financial functions for the County.
As our Finance Director, the responsibilities will include but are not limited to managing and coordinating payables, financial record keeping, audit preparation, assist in directing short and long-term borrowing, assisting with payroll, budget process, cash management, prepares and maintains financial reports, spending forecasts, presents financial reports to Commissioners, budget committee, collaborates with the executives and directors to create budgets; collaborates with banking institutions to meet deadlines in a fast-pace work environment.
Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Account and 4+ years related experience, at least 2 years’ experience in a busy accounting office at a manager level, OR equivalent years of experience, experience in county government or municipal is a plus. Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Excel, Word, Outlook; experience with computer based accounting applications; Ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of budgeting, financial policies and practices, accounting practices, cash management, excellent judgement, and have the initiative in analyzing and evaluating accounting processes and procedures and recommend improvement; desire to keep stakeholders informed, adaptable and flexible with a non-profit business acumen and very detailed oriented. Must be willing to stay within strict regulatory rules; well-developed written and oral communications skills. Certification from the Maine State Tax Collectors' and Treasurers' Association or ability to obtain certification with a reasonable length of time.
