Role Type: Full time - 100% Remote

Base Compensation: $165,000 - $200,000 depending on experience.

Location: Strong preference for candidates in San Diego, CA. However, we will consider all applicants located in the United States. Please note that applicants must be authorized to work within the United States.

Job Summary:

Since our launch in June 2020, Cars & Bids has become the destination for enthusiasts to buy and sell cool modern cars. In that time, we’ve grown to over 300,000 users, hosted over 10,000 auctions, and sold over $200 million in cars. We are continuing to aggressively expand, attract new audiences, and further establish ourselves as the preeminent automotive online auction destination.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for all financial tasks of our company and ensure we use capital and resources beneficially. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining financial and forecasting models, ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations, working with operations on building and maintaining budgets and financial compliance, managing account receivables and payables, leading corporate development efforts and managing the finance team. To be successful in this role, you should have experience crafting financial strategies and managing finance and accounting teams. In addition, the Head of Finance will work closely with the CEO and the rest of the executive team on setting overall company strategy and support its execution through financial operations and judicious investment criteria.

Ultimately, you will maintain our company’s financial health and increase profitability in the long run.

The Head of Finance will:

• Develop and execute a plan for accounting, finance, and compliance
• Build accurate and timely financial reports and internal reporting systems in coordination with operations
• Create and execute a plan to improve the management of financial statements and audit documentation
• Establish and support the achievement of profitability standards and financial goals for the company
• Report all financial discrepancies or report findings to upper management
• Work closely with the board and key shareholders on periodic financial and operating forecasts and analysis
• Analyze, contribute to and maintain financial compliance with key terms within the company’s legal documents
• Establish and control budgets across all departments
• Optimize cash management, balancing returns and risks
• Understand the company’s tax requirements and ensure compliance
• Hire, train, and manage staff

The Head of Finance will have:

• 10 years of progressive experience working in finance, accounting, auditing, or a related field
• Proven leadership experience in management of a finance department
• Candidates should have an advanced degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field of study
• Additional designations such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are an asset
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent knowledge of mathematics, accounting, and finance principles
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Strong reporting and analytical skills
• Ability to manage and balance budgets
• Great communication skills and cross-functional experience
• Proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
• Ability to manage several teams and projects at once
