Summary

AMG Vanadium (AMG V) is seeking a skilled IT Systems Administrator, with a strong database administration background, to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining Company databases at our Cambridge and Zanesville facilities, while ensuring database security, integrity, and stability in accordance with industry standards and Company policy. Additionally, the role includes network and server administration, as well as end user support for internal colleagues.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead by example and comply with AMG's Code of Business Conduct and all AMG V policies, procedures, and safety and environmental requirements
  • Embrace and promote the AMG V culture in all day-to-day activities; foster and promote a positive, respectful work environment that is aligned with AMG's values
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Company databases including evaluation for upgrade and improvement opportunities based on best practice and current security protocols
  • Make requested changes, updates, and modifications to database structure and data
  • Maintain, configure, and ensure reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Ensure database security, integrity, stability, and system availability; ensure systems are up to date with security patching and firmware upgrades
  • Review weekly vulnerability scan reports and remediate system vulnerabilities
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Maintain database backup and recovery infrastructure; create reports and queries upon request
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades to IT infrastructure
  • Participate in helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Participate in after hours on-call rotation with other members of the IT team

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience i.e., IT certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, or other network related fields required
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • Experience with MS SQL, MySQL and Microsoft Access required
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Strong knowledge of implementing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Experience with several of the following preferred: JD Edwards, Inductive Automation (Ignition), Veeam, Active Directory, Cisco Firepower, Ubiquiti (WAP), Qualtrax document management, Maintenance Connection
  • Manufacturing industry experience a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) required
  • Customer service mindset and commitment a must
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to efficiently and effectively multi-task required
  • Travel between AMG V's Cambridge and Zanesville locations required
  • Ability to provide on-call support required
