Job Title: IT Architect Network

General Description: Develop and implement network architecture strategy and implementation plans to achieve desired business and technical outcomes for the Chickasaw Nation.

Supervision Received: IT Sr. Manager, Shared Services

Job Duties:

IT Architect Network will be responsible for the creation and on-going development of the overarching network design for the enterprise. This position serves as the SME for creating a robust enterprise-level network strategy, with focus on scalability, interoperability, availability, and business outcomes that support the strategic needs of the Chickasaw Nation.

The IT Architect Network plays a vital role in defining and driving network technology solutions across the enterprise. This role uses, promotes, and supports the effective execution and evolution of holistic solution approaches & best practices for maximizing the value extraction of technologies investments.

Define and drive the implementation of the network strategic roadmap

· Work with senior leadership to define the Chickasaw Nation network vision and strategy, through collaboration with technical and business partners across the enterprise.

· Build the strategic network infrastructure and capability roadmap(s) for the enterprise; communicate and drive the implementation of its short-term and long-term objectives.

· Provide thought leadership for architecture, engineering, deployment and operations of network infrastructure technologies and platforms across all Chickasaw Nation business segments.

· Collaborate with CNIT management to assess network architectural needs and determine how technology can best support business strategy and needs

· Define and apply technical architecture standards for network solutions that guide the selection of the right solutions and enable enterprise needs for scalability, reliability, performance, interoperability, security, mobility and total cost of ownership.

· Identify new technologies and platforms that also help solve technical challenges or limitations in the existing Chickasaw Nation infrastructure and operations.

Lead evaluation, and selection of on-premise/cloud/hybrid network solutions and technologies

  • Define and drive network architecture principles by providing strategic and technical leadership for enabling existing network solutions that support business outcomes.
  • Lead network architecting sessions with internal and external partners in evaluating tradeoffs between design, risk, technology, and cost to identify and design network architectures.
  • Lead development of the business case for network solutions.
  • Create and maintain “as-is” and “to-be” architecture artifacts.

Serve as the network architecture subject matter expert for the enterprise

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for defining and reviewing solutions, technical architecture and designs for the CN Network environment while focusing on the business objectives and associated current business challenges that the solution must address.
  • Identify emerging trends in IT solutions in order to better align Network technical solutions with customer needs
  • Ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture and Technology Strategy by serving as an advocate.
  • Keep current on emerging/new technologies through educational opportunities, research, professional affiliations and personal networking.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Expert-level knowledge of network architecture and development activities and best practices

· Broad understanding of core IT technologies (e.g., operating systems, servers, virtualization, storage, software development) as it pertains to network interoperability.

· Expert-level experience with network infrastructure technologies including but not limited to data center routing/switching, enterprise networking (LAN/WAN), application delivery controllers, enterprise wireless LAN, DNS, DHCP, firewall (L3-L7), network packet brokers, IPS/IDS, Load Balancers, Software Defined Network (SDN), and web application firewalls.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to effectively communicate at both technical and business levels

· Ability to analyze and derive recommendations from vast amounts of data

· Willing and able to work as part of a collaborative team

· Possess the ability to lead and influence people to drive change

· Comfortable with public speaking to convey strategy concepts and roadmaps to various CN departments

· High energy, positive attitude, passionate

· Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Training and Experience

· 12+ years of experience with network architecture related activities, with 5+ years in architecture strategy and complex network architecture

· 5+ years of experience with network infrastructure engineering and operations

Education:

  • Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.

License/Certifications/Other:

  • Must be able to pass background check and receive a gaming license from the Chickasaw Nation Office of the Gaming Commission as required to work in gaming operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.
  • Advanced Architect certifications desired.
