GWI-VT is seeking a Network Engineer in the South Royalton, VT office, to be responsible for managing, maintaining, expanding, and improving GWI’s network infrastructure and service offerings.
Requirements of the Network Engineer:
· 3-5 years administering, configuring, and troubleshooting layer-2 and 3 networks.
· Understanding of layers 1-3 of the OSI model, such as function, protocols, troubleshooting and application.
· Technical understanding of Ethernet switching, including configuration and troubleshooting.
· Hardware knowledge/experience: Cisco, Calix
· Solid foundation in understanding IP.
· Ability to mentor co-workers in engineering methods and take an active role in identifying potential future projects to improve the reliability or efficiency of network.
· Ability to perform field work 1-2 days per week.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer:
· Provision new or existing services within various parts of the network.
· Procure, inventory, and configure various types of equipment.
· Respond to, and work towards resolution of all escalations.
· Isolate troubles and replace, reprogram, and/or retrofit equipment.
· Maintain tight control of facilities, port capacity, rack and cabling systems, power systems.
· Maintain monitoring systems, nodes, and maps.
· Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
