Work Shifts: 1st (7:00am-3:00pm), 2nd (3:00pm-11:00pm), 3rd (11:00pm-7:00am), Swing Shift (7:00pm-3:00am)

Job Description:

River Bend RV Resort is a family-oriented camping resort located in the countryside outside of Watertown, Wisconsin. The Resort operates from April to October with fun themes and activities for the whole family every week. We are currently seeking self-motivated individuals who are driven to work with the community to be Public Safety Officers for the 2023 season.

A Public Safety officer patrols River Bend RV Resort in order to enforce all Resort policies and state and federal laws. Observe, report, and safely intervene when the safety and security of Resort property, members, guests, staff, and visitors are compromised. Work is performed in accordance with the Resort’s mission, vision and core values. Drives emergency vehicles, performs basic fire suppression duties, and provides emergency medical treatment to the sick or injured.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works on assigned shifts performing patrols, traffic control, investigation of accidents, detection, investigation, and detainment of persons involved in crimes or misconduct. Performs emergency aid activities including administering emergency medical care and providing other assistance as required
  • Works an assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action being expected to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance
  • Monitors compliance of federal, state, county, and Resort laws, ordinances, and policies
  • Responds as an Emergency Medical Responder to all medical calls at the Resort and provides assessment, treatment and care of the sick and injured.
  • Conducts follow-up investigations of incidents happening the course of the assigned shift. Seeks out and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects. Develops leads and tips. Searches scene of incidents for clues.
  • Prepares a variety of reports and records including daily activity report, field interview report, citations, and incident reports.
  • Undertakes community-oriented Public Safety work and assists citizens with such matters as locked or stalled vehicles, crime prevention, security checks, traffic safety, etc. Presents programs to the community on safety, medical, fire prevention topics, and patrol vehicle tours.
  • Uses the theory of community policing in the performance of duties. Works to develop professional relationships with the River Bend community and builds trust within the community.
  • Coordinates activities with other officers or other Resort departments as needed, and exchanges information with law enforcement.
  • Maintains contact with Public Safety supervisory personnel to coordinate activities.
  • Maintains departmental equipment, supplies, and facilities. Performs minor repairs to departmental equipment.
  • Performs firefighting activities including containment and extinguishing tasks using a fire extinguisher.
  • Participates in Public Safety training, maintains required certifications via in-house training in security, emergency medical activities, firefighting, hazardous materials, and related subjects
  • Operates radio and other communication equipment
  • Participates in the inspection of buildings for fire and safety prevention

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No Felony Convictions
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Satisfactory completion of in-house Training.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, perform math skills and calculations related to position, read and interpret policies and procedures related to safety and security as well as codes and compliance regulations. Standing, walking, sitting, lifting. Good communication skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to intervene and manage crisis situations and perform under stress. This position can be physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging and demanding. Will have knowledge of public safety codes and emergency procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be capable of lifting or moving up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds rarely.

Work Environment:

May experience long periods of standing and walking. Will come in contact with members, guests, visitors, and other employees. May encounter unpleasant conditions and exposure to heat, cold, noise, dirt, inclement weather, chemicals and gases, water, fumes, overhead pipes, infectious disease or waste. May encounter aggressive, angry and abusive people. At least 75% of the work performed will be performed outside.
