Shorelight Real Estate (www.shorelightre.com) is a rapidly growing owner, operator and developer of apartment communities and industrial properties throughout New England with continued expansion plans in the mid-Atlantic and Sunbelt markets. In New England, we currently have a portfolio of nearly a dozen communities ranging in size from 25 to 150 units, and are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our dynamic and entrepreneurial team. The Real Estate Accounting Manager will be responsible for property accounting, corporate and partner-accounting. The role offers an opportunity for influence in a fast-paced work environment with autonomy, and a leadership role within the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Accountant will be responsible for assisting with property accounting in Appfolio, bank reconciliations, financial statements, monthly closing, and financial reporting. The accountant will also assist on entity and corporate-level accounting, annual tax filings, investor reporting and new acquisitions support.

  • Record tenant receipts against monthly charge and monitor tenant accounts for receivables
  • Manage weekly cash flow spreadsheet to determine which payables are to be paid
  • Maintain books and records by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions for multiple entities
  • Review and enter income and expense entries in property management software
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly property financial statement analysis with variance reporting
  • Compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement package with supporting documentation
  • Distribute financials to lenders, investors and partners
  • Assist with construction budgeting and lender draw requests for new developments and value-add renovation programs
  • Monitor cash balances and recommend capital calls and distributions from/to investors
  • Additional corporate accounting and financial analysis duties as assigned by management

Requirements Qualifications

  • 3+ years of property-level accounting experience
  • Experience in commercial and multifamily real estate
  • Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills, and exceptionally detail oriented
  • Knowledge of property management software

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
