Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting and assisting our sales force team and is an internal liaison for the field sales force. Work activities include providing detailed reporting, coordinating, and administering sales activities (meetings, travel, conferences, and department activities), communicating customer and product information, processing commissions, pricing, customer setup, customer data synchronization, and coordinating and maintaining a variety of programs in support of sales strategies implementation. Programs may include coordinating national and regional trade shows, supporting the Co-Op advertising program, processing customer volume rebates, and maintaining customer pricing, databases, and customer systems. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Customer Service & Sales Support Director, PBE Sales Director and CPG VP of Sales


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Must advance Excel skills to create a variety of sales reports; assists and participates in sales meetings; communicates customer and product information; manages and maintains records for all customer contracts, co-op payments, spiff programs, and other pertinent information.
  • Coordinates with Sales regarding CPG and Automotive programs including volume rebates and Co-Op advertising programs; verifies accruals with finance for all such programs.
  • Maintains and audits customer pricing including promotion and contract pricing in Trade +; validates accuracy of pricing before and after pricing is entered into system; communicates new pricing to internal and external customers; proactively works with internal and external customers to resolve pricing issues.
  • Coordinates the shipment of materials for trade shows including empty components and live sample orders to accounts.
  • Manages commission program by issuing commission reports and payments to outside Brokers on a monthly basis; validates sales and commission information; research discrepancies and resolves issues.
  • Researches, validates, and prepares all product information for publication to various data synchronization applications including the national GSDN and account specific systems in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Validates all customer and sales information for accuracy and completeness for entry into various computer systems; creates spreadsheets and data tables for new customer set up; sets up, modifies, maintains and deletes a variety of systems information and data on customers, territories, sales representatives, brokers, products, pricing, etc.; maintains all customer order management code files, records and source documents; runs exception reports monthly; researches discrepancies and makes corrections.
  • Performs all work in accordance with Barr’s safety and quality guidelines and procedures; demonstrates clear understanding of these safety and quality objectives.
  • Performs other work and special projects as required by the Manager.

Qualifications/Experience:


Graduation from high school or GED and 3 –5 years administrative support experience in an office environment (sales support or customer service experience desirable); BS degree in business, marketing or finance a plus.


Must have effective analytical skills, ability to utilize data systems and access, assess, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from various data sources; ability to develop action plans or make recommendations from analyses; effective fact based reporting and presentation skills, excellent attention to detail, excellent organization and interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; excellent problem solving and issue resolution skills; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; advanced skills in in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of AX; ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; must be self-motivated and a team player. Some overtime may be required


Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:


  • Typical office environment with moderate noise level; occasional warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise level.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, talk, hear and see for extended periods of time; occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds; specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read and understand general business periodicals, customer requirements, pricing, promotions, commission and related agreements; ability to write reports and limited business correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from field sales employees, managers, and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates and percentages.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to have limited exposure to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat or cold as would occur in a warehouse environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
