Senior Finance Associate

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for overseeing the Bank’s general ledger and financial close process (including month-end general ledger reconciliations), overseeing and completing the Bank and Holding Company’s required financial Regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with bank regulations, and providing timely and accurate information to the Chief Financial Officer that is used in decision-making for the Bank. This person reports to the SVP -CFO.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform the month-end close process for the Bank and Holding Company. This includes review of general ledger balances, ensuring entries are posted properly, reviewing variances to budget, and confirming all month-end tasks have been completed timely.
  • Complete the month-end general ledger reconciliation process for finance-related accounts. Assist other departments with reconciliation questions and research as appropriate.
  • Complete monthly financial reports provided to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Assist with investment portfolio transactions to include recording purchases, paydowns, interest payments and maturities.
  • On a quarterly basis, review accruals and prepaid expenses in detail to ensure that they are accurately stated.
  • Assist the CFO with quarterly Asset Liability Committee / Interest Rate Risk Management reporting and analysis.
  • Complete the regulatory reporting required for the Bank (Call Report quarterly)
  • Complete regulatory reporting required for the Holding Company.
  • Serve as a backup to the Operation Specialist with regards to the A/P function.
  • Gather information for audits and assist the internal and external auditors with any questions throughout the year.
  • Assist the CFO with data analysis and projects that are beneficial to the Bank in execution of its strategic plan.
  • Stay current on all accounting and compliance regulations required for the position and adhere to all associated guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of bank and client information at all times.
  • Work as part of a team to accomplish department and organization-wide goals.
  • Participates in internal and external training as appropriate.
  • Participates in community involvement and bank activities as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education, Work Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • At least 5 years of similar experience and CPA is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and vendors.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Standard.
  • Good problem-solving skills using experience, knowledge and policies and procedures provided.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work while working independently.
  • Must view oneself as part of an overall team; this includes supporting others throughout the Bank to achieve overall goals of the organization.
  • Regard for important details to assure accuracy, detect errors and follow through on corrections and details.
  • Able to adapt to different work situations, remain composed under pressure and in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of pertinent State and Federal guidelines, laws, and regulations.
  • Position title and compensation dependent on experience and leadership skills.
