System Administrator

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting accessible Infrastructure for Saavi Services for the Blind’s working and learning environment. This includes prioritizing user requirements, administering Windows servers in a VMware environment and supporting Microsoft 365 apps. Should be highly analytical and be able to understand business needs. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities are essential.

This position contributes to our mission to cultivate growth and opportunity for blind people through nonvisual skills training; gaining the knowledge that all challenges have solutions, and fostering self-efficacy, empowerment, and confidence. This means that all hold a positive philosophy of blindness, and all contribute to the success for each student.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

· Recommend and implement efficient IT systems to meet business and technology needs.

· Provide system administration support for Microsoft 365 applications, Active Directory, and network infrastructure.

· Integrate multiple systems and reconcile needs of different teams including business applications, video conferencing, and learning platforms in an inclusive, accessible environment.

· Image systems, Maintain Microsoft images and recommend improvements to deployment. processes.

· Plan and oversee projects (e.g., upgrades, hardware and software installations).

· Provide technical support and training to staff

· Keep up to date on technology trends and developments

· Work collaboratively in a team to support student and agency success.

· Adhere to all timelines or develop reasonable alternate plans for accomplishing job tasks.

· Reinforce proper cane technique and other nonvisual skills during all activities.

· Serve as a role model for students in the use of nonvisual techniques and problem-solving skills.

· Ensure learning shade and cane is used at all times whilst taking part in Saavi Services for the Blind and other appropriate activities.

· Demonstrate respect and inclusion for all.

· Positively represent Saavi in professional development and special functions as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

· BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or similar level experience

· Two years’ experience as an IT Analyst, System Administrator, or similar role

· Knowledge of Windows servers, security best practices, and common troubleshooting methodology

· Experience supporting Microsoft 365 apps

· Experience using VMware vSphere and associated tools

· Experience working with computer imaging tools

· Analytical mindset

· Problem solving aptitude

· Ability to demonstrate a positive philosophy of blindness and a history of inclusive practices

· Excellent verbal communication and the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence

· Experience advocating for individuals and encouraging self-advocacy

Conditions of Employment:

· Able to work some evenings or weekends as needed.

· Must demonstrate a positive philosophy of blindness.

· Must complete internal blindness emersion training.

· Ability to pass a Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) background check.

· Ability to obtain an approved DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card (provided by SAAVI)

· If performing driving functions for Saavi Services for the blind, Possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License. If driving SAAVI vehicles must have a clean driving record and be approved by SAAVI insurance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
