Career Start is currently seeking an Accounting Specialist in Syracuse, NY. To be considered for this Accounting Specialist position, candidates must have at least two years’ experience in AR and/or AP, particularly with the management and reconciliations of customer accounts strongly preferred.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist:

• Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
• Calculate invoices using ERP systems
• Reconcile unbilled receivables, troubleshoot, and resolve out of balance accounts
• Perform a detailed analysis and reconciliation of billed amounts versus recorded revenue
• Support audit, external public auditors, and internal audit as necessary
• Perform collections procedures for one or more businesses supported by this role
• Codes invoices, expense reports, Check requests with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the ERP system
• Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders
• Prepares batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions

Requirements of the Accounting Specialist:

• Associates degree in accounting, business or equivalent experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
• Ability to work on a self-initiated basis, prioritize multiple demands and deadlines
• Desire to grow and develop within the organization
• Efficient, detail oriented, with a high level of accuracy
