Butternut Mountain Farm is a second-generation, Vermont family-owned company. We are one of the largest packagers of pure maple syrup in the country. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data.
• Receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.
• Verifying vendor accounts, paying vendors, and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
• Charging expenses to accounts and cost centers, as well as controlling petty cash spending.
• Reconciling account transactions with the general ledger.
• Keeping informed of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
• Review purchases for use tax due and maintain timely payment of sales and use tax.
• Keep apprised of sales and use tax guidelines.

Accounts Payable Specialist applicants should have the following experience:

• 2 years’ experience as an accounts payable specialist, or equivalent role.
• Competency in accounting and business ERP systems.
• In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
• Experience in account reconciliation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing demands.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.

In addition to experience, the Accounts Payable Specialist should have the following attributes:

• Problem solving, multi-tasking and is a good listener
• Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Has good organizational skills, energy, and uses resources effectively
• Works accurately and has attention to detail
• Able to interact positively and work effectively with others
• Solid knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite
