Animal Nutritionist Job Profile

Job Mission
To develop and formulate cost effective feeds and feed programs for all classes of livestock consistent with CFC’s vision to drive sales and enhance customer experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountability: Nutrition/Formulation

• Oversee the development of a complete feed sales program to provide quality livestock feeds at competitive prices.
• Formulate, market, and sell high-quality, low-cost feed rations and feed programs, considering the productivity of patrons and the profitability of the Co-op.
• Review and incorporate new feed products into overall feed operations, determining whether products should be manufactured or purchased.
• Work with marketing department on promotion of products.
• Perform on farm evaluations with Territory Sales Managers and or Store Managers to trouble shoot and develop nutritional solutions.
• Determine forage labs to be used and perform forage sampling to be sent off for forage analysis.
• Develop and monitor feed storage guidelines.
• Create feed tags for feeds.

Key Accountability: Training

• Stay abreast of advances in animal nutrition, incorporating them into current feeding programs, when appropriate.
• Educate and update managers, production and sales personnel on new advances related to animal nutrition.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Feed Mill Quality Assurance Policy and Policy Manual.
• Train new and current employees on feed products and services.
• Work with staff and vendors to develop and implement ongoing training of retail staff.

Key Accountability: Regulatory

• Sample incoming ingredients for compliance of mycotoxin and quality standards.
• Maintain records necessary to satisfy FDA, EPA, and State regulations.
• Register feed with appropriate state agencies .
• Enter and maintain files for Veterinary Feed Directives.

Key Accountability: Other

• It is expected to represent CFC in a positive, professional manner at all times.
• Adhere to all company policies.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences or related field, including coursework in nutrition and animal production.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 Years Work Experience in Animal Nutrition.
• Agricultural Sales Experience Preferred.
