Job Description and Responsibilities
Position: Cashier
Full-Time –minimum 40 hours per week
Part-Time- maximum 30 hours per week
Immediate Supervisor: Store Manager
General Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for providing exceptional customer service and the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, in such a manner as to ensure that the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store.
Specific Job Responsibilities (essential functions)
· Promote company values
· Adhere to all company policies and procedures
· Provide prompt, friendly and courteous service to all customers
· Become familiar with all store products, their features and benefits
· Utilize up-selling techniques as directed by store manager
· Notify store manager of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies
· Prepare shift-change report at the completion of shift in accordance with company guidelines
· Utilize cash register to record all sales
· Accurately record all markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, voids, and bad-merchandise write-offs, within established guidelines
· Keep store premises, interior and exterior, maintained in a clean and attractive manner
· Keep coolers, store shelves, and display units fully stocked and faced at all times
· Properly clean and maintain equipment and ready high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, etc., as directed by store manager
· Work as a team to complete cleaning/ to do lists
· Remove snow from sidewalks and around pumps and propane filling area
· Remain in sight of store customers at all times
· Other duties as assigned
Job Specifications:
· Read, speak, understand and write English
· Perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level
· Operate electronic cash register and other equipment
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
· Able to bend repetitively and kneel
· Able to stand for extended periods of time on a regular basis
· Practice good personal hygiene
· Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s) and carry out instructions
· Tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes, cleaning products and propane fumes
· Climb ladders to clean or move stored items
· Work in extreme cold and hot temperatures (stocking coolers/freezers and outside chores)
