Ganas MFG ( www.ganasmfg.com ) is a Detroit-based company specializing in architectural millwork, metal work and bespoke furniture.

We're seeking a Controller to help lead GANAS MFG into our next chapter. This individual will be a crucial member of the leadership team, overseeing the day to day accounting and financial activities on fast-paced fabrication projects, ranging in size from custom furniture to large-scale architectural millwork.

Primary Responsibities

• Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions

• Prepare periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.

• Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department (includes but not limited to reviewing all reconciliations, vendor accounts and outstanding customer receivables).

• Prepare annual budgets, including pre-budget analysis and research

• Provide the management team with financial information vital to the decision-making process

• Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes as well as implement internal control systems

• Identify and monitor key performance drivers (metrics) and opportunities that can be leveraged to improve the organization's profitability and create value for all stakeholders. Implement a process for tracking and measuring results both at company and project levels

• Monitor labor and material costs - implement inventory and project management in quickbooks to ensure raw material and consumables inventory are recorded properly, and to ensure job profitability targets are met or exceeded on all jobs.

• As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates and enhancements.

External Reporting Responsibilities

• Provide financial information to external parties including financial institutions and tax preparers.

• File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

• Assist external tax preparers to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

Staff Management Responsibilities

• Mentor, train and retain a skilled accounting staff

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a controller in a manufacturing or construction environment

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• CPA or CMA preferred but not required.

• Proven skills in financial reporting, cost accounting, forecasting, and inventory

• Experience establishing and implementing process improvement initiatives within a high growth environment.

• Proficient with Quickbooks including inventory and project management modules

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

• Strong sense of curiosity and eagerness to learn about the millwork industry

• Ability to problem-solve with incomplete information and conform to shifting priorities

• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Experience working with others in a fast-paced team environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
