Become involved in training the next generation of Family Physicians and other primary care providers at the Northern Light EMMC Family Medicine Residency, while addressing health and mental health, and substance use in our patient panel of more than 6,000 patients.
We hire creative generalist behavioral health practitioners who are energetic and interested in addressing health, mental health, and substance abuse using evidence-based interventions in a setting that develops new resident physicians and prepares them for the practice of Family Medicine with a multidisciplinary team providing integrated behavioral health services foundational to the promotion of patient well-being.
The behavioral medicine team is the keystone in the patient centered medical home primary care model focused on trauma informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TICBT) and narrative therapy (NT) that promotes medical phenomenology, which means fundamentally understanding the patient in their environment, and leveraging the therapeutic relationship to promote patient activation and resident physician development.
The successful candidate will have evidence of a practice history and philosophy that is generalist, open to a variety of referrals (though you may have areas of specialization),who believes in the primary care behavioral health model of warm handoffs, interruptability, short and longer term therapy relationships, and flexibility in a learning organization where you may explore, propose and develop new evidence based interventions.

Minimal Cognitive Impairment (MCI) recovery post hospitalization care
ADHD Testing/Montreal / RBANS Testing and evaluations r/t MCI and concussions
Art Humanities and Medicine initiative
Duties include:
Formal and Informal Education of Resident Physicians
Scholarly Activity and Research
Involvement in your professional associations and publishing
Design and Evaluation of interventions
Group and Individual Supervision
Promoting the patient centered medical home/ primary care behavioral health model
Involvement in regional and national associations and training (e.g. Balint, STFM, etc).
