Our areas of focus, over the 35-year history of the firm, are distressed debt investment in the United States, Europe, and Asia; entitlement and acquisition of land for luxury multi-family development, primarily in southern California; acquisition of existing multi-family assets in the western United States; and construction, property management and asset management of our multi-family portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a leadership role between the property accounting group and other departments within the organization including operations, construction, finance and corporate
  • Oversee month end close and monthly financial reporting, including:
  • Review of property level financials / variance reports
  • Coordination with on-site staff, operations, and 3rd party managers
  • Timely and accurate monthly reporting
  • Review monthly partner distributions (and capital calls when necessary)
  • Review monthly update of preferred return schedules
  • Review and approve debt service payments and intercompany reimbursements
  • Coordination and oversight of all external reporting, including timely submittal of:
  • Annual tax returns - monitoring the completion of internal workpapers, preparation of tax returns by external tax accountants, K-1 distributions
  • Lender reporting for operating properties
  • JV partner reporting for operating properties
  • Personal property tax declarations
  • Escheatment filing
  • Coordination of annual budget with operations
  • Obtain/review/supply all non-controllable budgets
  • Oversee annual budget import into Yardi
  • Assist with dispositions, acquisitions, and any other transactions (e.g., refinancing)
  • Manage special projects (e.g., implementations; process improvement; etc.)
  • Oversee and lead accounting team consisting of accounting manager, senior accountants, and accounts payable processors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance or related fields
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience
  • Real estate property management experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience using accounting and property management software such as Yardi

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
