JOB MISSION:
The Global Media Director is a US-based role with responsibility for delivering innovative strategies and campaigns across owned, earned and paid media channels. As a visible champion of our ONE NB vision, this person works cross-functionally with Brand and Consumer marketing teams and regional leads to ensure strategies and communications maintain global relevance and adoption, in adherence with Global Marketing Plans and Brand Guidelines. This is a unique opportunity to join New Balance’s Global Marketing Leadership team and influence our brand’s current and long-range growth plans through public relations, paid media and social media communications. This position is based in Boston at New Balance headquarters.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Direct-line manage a Boston-based team of Senior PR and Media Marketing Managers, along with their direct reports
- Lead the development of annual Communications Plans, Key Narratives and Metrics, as well as the department’s multi-year business plan
- Bring forth innovative, long-term strategic thinking, seasonal strategies, and compelling concepts that align with and support the brand’s game plan
- Champion internal and external commitments around ESG priorities, brand purpose, DE&I, and sustainability
- Work closely with, and as a member of, the Global Marketing Leadership Team to ensure Communications needs and opportunities are accounted for within Global Marketing Plans
- Establish strong working relationships with Global Directors across Brand Strategy & Operations, International Marketing, Performance and Lifestyle to align to common goals and plans.
- Partner with Entertainment and Sports Marketing leadership to ensure NB’s investments in athletes, teams, federations and artists are fully integrated into Communications workstreams
- Collaborate with Product to deliver timely, exciting stories that continue to position New Balance’s offerings in a positive light and ahead of trends
- Align with Internal and Corporate Communications to ensure consistency and clarity across channels addressing internal and external stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- Global and/or international experience with proven success in progressive communication strategies
- 10+ years of experience working in Earned Media, Communications, PR.
- MBA preferred
- Footwear, fashion, apparel, or athletic industry experience a plus
- Proven track record of leading a global team to execute major brand or product moments and experiential events
- Experience delivering significant brand and commercial growth through creating stories and angles with true media potential
- Proficiencies: 360 global launch planning and execution; product placement; seeding/showrooms; celebrity and/or influencer engagement; consumer media relations; athlete/entertainer press junkets and media days; company spokesperson; global strategy and local activation
- A resourceful problem solver with DIY approach and a track record of making 1+1=3
