Job Description :

The Human Resources Assistant (HR Assistant) will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the Human Resources Department. The HR Assistant provides aid for all general human resources questions, benefit issues, orientation, resolution of payroll discrepancies and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures. Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy and vibrant home for our residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities – 90% of job duties

  • Provides day to day general Human Resources support to employees and management staff. Answer FAQs related to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, and etc. Appropriately refers more complex questions to senior-level HR staff or management
  • Conducts new employee orientation sessions and all new hire paperwork processing.
  • Creates and maintains employee personnel, medical, and benefit files; maintains branch I-9 files in accordance with company policies and legal
  • Maintain electronic and paper agency files
  • Track benefits eligibility, annual Physical/TB/Vaccination requirements, and referral bonus distribution
  • Maintain records and purchases of employee parking permits
  • Conduct monthly audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Assist with recruitment and ensure pre-employment screenings transpire in a timely manner
  • Perform final check requests for separations, compile required notices and tasks, complete check requests.
  • Assist with basic ADP changes, ensure compliance posters, employee communication, and open positions are updated in employee locations.
  • Support the planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, on-boarding, staff meetings, birthday events, offsite events, and the annual holiday party.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (ex: ADP data base clean-up project)

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Years of Related Professional Experience:

  • 2-4 years of human resource experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience welcomed

Educational/Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED
  • Some college or business classes desirable

Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Background:

  • Position requires clean CA driving record
