Human Resources Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for processing, tracking, analyzing, and reporting personnel transactions and data utilizing the University's payroll and human resources information systems. In addition, this position will provide support to achieve both operational and strategic objectives in the Human Resources Department. The position reports to the Sr. Director of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Process staff, faculty, and student worker transactions including, but not limited to, the onboarding of new employees, personnel transactions such as transfers, upgrades, and promotions, and the exiting of employees from the University.
  • Oversee data management, including the monitoring of key transactional dates, ensuring the accuracy of employee information, and organizing electronic personnel files.
  • Track critical personnel information necessary for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Assemble, analyze, and report personnel and salary data utilizing Excel.
  • Assist the Sr. Payroll Specialist in troubleshooting and correcting payroll issues as they arise; may act as backup in the processing of the semi-monthly payroll.
  • Complete background checks as part of the new hire process.
  • Train and monitor work assigned to HR student workers related to the job tasks associated with the Human Resources Coordinator.
  • Assist colleagues and Sr. HR Director with other related administrative, project, and day-to-day support as needed to ensure proper support for Vanguard's mission and goals for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Review and process a variety of employee requests, including but not limited to verifications of employment, tuition remissions, and employee name badges.
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions from walk in traffic, email, and phone inquiries.
  • Reconcile and process vendor invoices through accounts payable.
  • Organize and maintain employee files in the file room and archive location.
  • Maintain all required labor law posters.
  • Create and/or update desk manual for process employee transactions and the reporting of critical HR metrics.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in data management through the use of Microsoft Excel and other database management systems. Experience in a Payroll/Human Resources software is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills in other Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

SALARY:

Full-time position.

$20.02 to $24.47 (Hourly)

Placement within the salary range is commensurate upon education and experience. Posted salary range reflects anticipated hiring scale for the position. Vanguard University also offers a very competitive and generous benefits package.
