Human Resources Manager
Full Time: (40 hrs. /week)
JOB SUMMARY
Manages and Oversees the Human Resources department helping to ensure it is a valuable and approachable department with exceptional Customer Service to all staff. Helps plan, administer and provide appropriate education for Employee Benefits package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
HR Management Functions
Oversees human resources functions in coordination with VPHR.
Stays up-to-date on latest trends and best-practices in Human Resources.
Helps to ensure that the Human Resources Department is a valuable and approachable asset to all employees and helps foster and develop a “great place to work” culture.
Revises job descriptions and employee performance evaluation process, as necessary.
Understands employment laws related to wage and hour laws, required postings, OSHA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.
Ensures compliance with existing personnel policies and procedures.
Reviews and responds to unemployment claims and attends hearings, as necessary.
Serves as Chair of the Employee Appreciation and Activities Committee and helps plan, coordinate, and administer various appreciation events and activities.
Helps counsel supervisors with employee discipline or termination issues. Works with legal counsel and appropriate departmental Vice Presidents as necessary.
Employee Benefits
Oversees all employee health, disability, voluntary insurance and workman’s compensation benefits. Interacts with vendors on employee questions/concerns with benefits.
Administers 401(k) plan by determining eligibility, monitoring withholding amounts, resolving issues and facilitating the participant loan program. Serves as a member of the 401(k) Investment Committee.
Evaluates benefit options annually and works with VPHR and the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (VPCFO) in making decisions on benefit plan design, providers, budget, and employee contributions.
Serves as backup for the Benefits Coordinator ensuring appropriate FMLA/LOA administration, insurance enrollments, changes, and terminations as necessary. Helps provide support for staff questions regarding benefits.
Tracks and completes Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) reporting requirements.
Works with Benefits Coordinator to reconcile monthly benefit insurance invoices and performs reconciliation in their absence.
Administers employee recognition and service award programs.
Ensures compliance with flu and COVID vaccination for Staff and works with HR Coordinator to provide flu vaccination clinics and related documentation.
Recruitment
Works with and oversees Recruiter to develop and implement new ideas for staff recruitment.
Helps to ensure efficient and expedited recruitment of new staff.
Assists in interviewing process as necessary.
General Responsibilities
Serves as chair or in leadership capacity for various committees (possibly including Safety Committee, DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) committee, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field OR minimum of five years recent HR experience, preferred.
PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
Supervisory experience a plus.
Must have and maintain wide knowledge of human resources best practices.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills/abilities.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and internet applications. Experience with HR database and HRIS systems preferred.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong math skills.
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail, excellent multitasking and organization skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling records and information.
