Human Resources Specialist

Position Overview:

The HR Specialist supports the Human Resources Department in the daily administration of its activities, such as assisting with employee recruitment, training, and employee relations. The HR Specialist helps to create a productive work environment by designing, implementing, and monitoring management’s employee development processes, programs, and policies. The HR Specialist also serves as a liaison between the Human Resources Department and employees for effective communication and conflict resolution. Additionally, the HR Specialist coordinates meetings and maintains personnel records.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date files, records, and documentation in a confidential manner.
  • Assists with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting interviews, and creating and communicating offers.
  • Assists with pre-employment process for all new hires, establishing point of contact for employee questions.
  • Perform New Employee Orientations, ensuring all documentation and training is complete for new hire to start.
  • Act as a resource for managers on basic employee relation situations. Recommends and delivers next steps for communication or disciplinary action.
  • Maintains and manages HR-related training programs, workshops, and seminars and tracking thereof.
  • Produces and submits reports on general human resources tracking measures. Uses data to recommend alternative methods for success.
  • Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews.
  • Recommends and manages departmental projects to ensure compliance and continuous improvement for overall effectiveness of the team and HMC.
  • Assists with the ordering and restocking of office supplies as needed.
  • Prepares and edits letters, reports, memos, spreadsheets, and emails.
  • Interdepartmental Administrative and clerical tasks (such as scanning, filing, printing, etc.)
  • Attend and/or facilitate meetings with employees, departments, leadership, and administration.
  • Other related work as requested or required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in the most confidential manner.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of HR functions and best practices.
  • Knowledge of employment law and human resources responsibilities.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or similar.
  • Two (2) years of HR related experience preferable.
  • PHR or CP Certifications desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
