JOB DESCRIPTION: Infusion Registered Nurse

REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical Services

DEFINITION OF POSITION: This is a part time position 10 hour shifts. The infusion nurse provides infusion therapy to the patients at Idaho Gastroenterology Associates following the standards of care, policies and guidelines of IGA set forth by the National Infusion Center Association, NICA.
Collaborates with infusion team; including infusion services coordinator, front/back office, to ensure continuity of care that aligns with organizational vision that advocates patient needs across the continuum of care.
Builds loyalty and commitment throughout their service area.
Fosters patient and employee satisfaction by building and maintaining a caring and supportive environment.
Effectively communicates with patients, families, employees, physicians, and other department leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure waiting area is clean and neat for incoming patients.
• Inform infusion services coordinator of availability for infusion appointment times for cancelations
• Gives nursing expertise as needed in assistance with infusion services coordinator appeals letters as needed
• Communicates with Infusion Services coordinator regarding low stock for drug assistance medications or specialty pharmacy infusion drugs
• Provide patient education related to infusion medication
• Copies forms and scans medical records as necessary. Ensures signed consents obtained for infusion per office policy.
• Maintains Medical Records per Medical Record Policy
• Answer and return phone calls related to infusion related patient questions, reports concerns to Infusion Services Coordinator or Director of Clinical Services
• Communicate with providers to provide patient updates following infusion
• Confirms appointments, as necessary
• Assists in keeping work area neat.
• Participates in patient safety and quality initiatives related to infusion
• Check emergency equipment at pre-determined intervals

14. Utilizes Microsoft Outlook email for non-patient correspondence and EPIC messaging for patient care correspondence/documentation.
15. Demonstrates respect of IGA policies for security, privacy and confidentiality while using IGA equipment. Follows personnel policies contained within the IGA personnel manual
16. Immediately reports any hardware or software malfunction to the IT Officer, Infusion Services Coordinator or Director of Clinical Services
17. Communicates pertinent information to others
18. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Unencumbered Licensure in state of Idaho as RN
• Demonstrate reliability, a pleasant attitude, and a willingness to perform the duties as required.
• Demonstrate effective communication with physicians and co-workers.
• Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy on all matters.
• Prior Infusion therapy of biologics preferred by not required
