Plumbing & HVAC Business Unit Leader

Position Summary:

The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for leading our residential-focused Plumbing and HVAC operations serving the greater Washington DC area. They will have full ownership of every aspect of the business from hiring, training, and developing team members to marketing, sales and customer service and technician field operations and office support functions.

The Business Unit Leader will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage all team efforts and business functions to achieve aggressive but realistic revenue and profit goals, while maintaining a distinctive focus on customer satisfaction. As a team-focused business, our Business Unit Leader must have a passion for people and developing talent—taking a strong, highly successful team to the next level of success must be an energizing and empowering daily mission. They will have deep expertise in how to leverage a strong regional brand while expanding its scope and recognition through innovative marketing and sales tactics. They will continually assess and improve the business value proposition, helping to differentiate the company in areas including talent quality, level of expertise/certification, customer satisfaction guarantees, technology innovation, and ongoing support and relationship management.

The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for:

  • Full operational responsibility for profit and loss related activities.
  • Preparing and analyzing business forecasts, budgets, and other reports to identify trends and prospective problem areas and taking immediate action based on findings to continually, and realistically, stretch annual targets.
  • Developing and executing daily operational plans to exceed revenue and profitability goals.
  • Establishing a team culture among business associates that creates a distinctive, highly prized workplace. They will make every team member feel empowered and valued in their work and in pursuing their career aspirations.
  • Taking ultimate ownership of the entire customer experience, ensuring that all team members and resources approach each day and each customer with a passion for ensuring an unmatched level of satisfaction.
  • Consistently administering company policies and procedures throughout the business.
  • Managing and enhancing job satisfaction and workplace culture by engaging team members, creating employee engagement experiences, providing ongoing and real-time feedback, completing annual performance evaluations, and continually reviewing and optimizing salaries to align with market best-practices and benchmarks for top talent.
  • Maintaining extensive knowledge of competitors. Using market insights to continually expand the business capabilities and introduce new services and solutions that allow the business to gain market share and increased relevance for current and potential customers.
  • Recruit, hire, promote, train, conduct performance reviews, use feedback to motivate and develop team members, address people issues, and discipline and terminate employees.
  • Champion company programs, procedures, best practices and requirements. Ensure compliance with all standards and continually share best practices to help elevate the foundational tools and resources of the organization.
  • Attend and participate in company-sponsored training, in addition to identifying and implementing a comprehensive training program for every member of the team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience successfully leading a fast-paced, residential-focused, home services organization with a proven track record of rapidly and profitably growing a business.
  • Committed to winning, including working a flexible schedule, including weekends, as required to ensure the team’s success.
  • Confident working knowledge and experience with financial statements.
  • Data-driven approach and mindset. Uses tools and analytics to identify opportunities, eliminate risks, and help his/her team to succeed in the more productive and rewarding fashion.
  • Proven passion for customer service and desire to personally engage with team members and directly with customers to help differentiate the level of service and relationship provided.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, and team members.
  • Proactive with a high sense of urgency without sacrificing quality.
  • Undergraduate degree highly desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
