A day in the life as an IT Infrastructure Engineer with CNG:

The IT Infrastructure Engineer assists in the design, implementation, and management of CNG’s technical infrastructure locally and remotely across the enterprise. They should possess a broad technological background with increasingly complex roles demonstrating the ability to understand interdependence of systems to efficiently troubleshoot issues. They should have in-depth experience with AD, VMWare/Hyper-V, Networking, Email (Exchange & Office365), Servers (Windows, Linux), and Cloud hosted systems (Azure, AWS). The ability to plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of infrastructure devices across the enterprise is essential. The IT Infrastructure Engineer reports to the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager. This position is full time and requires some availability outside of normal business hours.

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer your responsibilities will be:

• Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability with a focus on security.
• Diagnose complex network, storage and server issues and implement corrective solutions.
• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot various infrastructure components such as LANs, WANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi networks, physical and virtual servers, routers/firewalls, switches, mobile devices via MDM, and battery backups.
• Track vulnerabilities, apply remediations and patches to network and server assets.
• Contribute to IT knowledge base with detailed documentation of design and configuration information.
• Assist in annual disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Provide proactive network/server monitoring to ensure optimum performance and acting on real-time alerting of critical issues.
• Assist team members on various IT-related projects and day-to-day tasks.
• Perform hardware, software, and firmware upgrades as directed.
• Prompt response to system outages or service problems. May require off-hours work.

A strong IT Infrastructure Engineer will possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years of network/server administrator/engineer position experience.
• Understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, AD & Domain architecture.
• Experience with industry standard infrastructure components such as HPE/Dell/Cisco UCS servers, VMWare/Hyper-V clusters with shared storage, FortiGate firewalls, Cisco switches, Meraki/Ruckus Wireless Access Points, Dell/EMC SANs, Cisco/Avaya phone systems, and Veeam backup.
• Practical application of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for system administration and/or automation.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and environments preferred.
• Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
