Job Description :

As the Information Technology Project Facilitator, your primary responsibility is to guide company projects through the project lifecycle from planning to execution, identifying and using the appropriate approach (waterfall, agile, SCRUM, hybrid), following company project management standards and methodologies, and delivering projects meeting established timelines, budgets, and business objectives. These factors may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to define and achieve. You will actively manage the delivery of multiple, large-scale projects at a time as well as oversee the delivery of a portfolio of smaller projects.

Primary Duties:

  • Charter new projects to help determine scope, objectives, budget estimates, timelines and risks needed to support project review and approval.
  • Review project proposals or charters developed by others to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and the assignment of available departmental resources to various project phases.
  • Create project or work plans including schedules, deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide project leadership, motivation, and effective change management to project team members throughout the project life cycle.
  • Monitor and report upon project activities, ensuring quality and integrity, while providing consistency in content and quality across each business.
  • Act as a coach to project resources, junior project managers, executives and others who need assistance and advice regarding project management practices.
  • Implement project communications, training and change management plans.
  • Conduct risk assessment and mitigation plans.
  • Review, approve and manage the delivery of the work plan of an external service provider or consultancy contracted to execute the project.
  • Ensure that project goals are in line with business objectives.
  • Ensure that project goals are achieved.
  • Proactively identify dependencies and issues between teams and work to resolve them.
  • Establish and/or follow company standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Facilitate discussions and manage relationships with project stakeholder.
  • Track project scope changes, delivery timing and key project metrics and communicate progress, status, changes and risks.

Skills Required:

  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial, communication and consulting skills. This blend is vital because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies, and of how other enterprises are using them to drive digital business, project delivery and change management.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology and experience or familiarity with major, defined program management approaches.
  • Significant knowledge of project planning/scheduling tools (for example, Microsoft Project), with a solid track record of practical application.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment in which this role may not directly control resources.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Ability to value and appreciate the contributions of all team members and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to motivate, set and convey clear goals with others.
  • Attention to detail and ability to delivery accurate, clear, and quality work.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate competing interests.
  • Ability to leverage strengths and experiences of team to achieve goals.
  • Ability to cooperate with colleagues and shared resources.
  • Ability to manage vendors to ensure projects are completed according to statement of work or contract terms.
  • Familiarity with IT enterprise process standards and regulations (e.g. ITIL).

Experience:

  • Seven or more years of progressive project management experience, using waterfall, agile and SCRUM approaches, with sensitivity and commitment to business and operational efficiency problem solving.
  • Five years of successfully managing complex and risky IT projects.
  • Five or more years of BU or BU-facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.
  • Five years or more working with PMI/PMP or other relevant project management certifications. Experience with Project Success Management Methodology is a strong preference.
