Purpose of the Job: The position of Software Applications / Development Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting, implementing, and integrating software and applications used by various Brett Robinson departments and entities. Database and web development will be an essential skill. Programming and scripting knowledge is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Implements new IT systems and integrates technologies.
  • Maintains existing IT programs, ensuring that all necessary updates are made.
  • Optimizes profitability and efficiency through technology.
  • Identifies and resolves all IT related issues.
  • Analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
  • Performs audits of IT related services and the equipment used to perform those services.
  • Works with the IT team to meet the overall corporate goals.
  • Orders supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Innovates and takes initiative!
  • Focuses on solutions to improve customer experience.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Possesses knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
  • Possesses experience with MS Access or database development and deployment.
  • Is familiar with web API programming.
  • Develops and maintains software and database solutions that support all aspects of the business to include marketing, communications, accounting, sales, and other business functions.
  • Provides direct and responsive support for business needs with ERP and database development.
  • Leads software development activities with databases and web applications.
  • Translates loosely defined requirements into solutions.
  • Uses opensource resources and coding to develop and enhance business processes.
  • Supports legacy software and applications while finding modern solutions for the future.

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in the technology field.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Finds fulfillment in assisting team members to resolve challenges through technology.
  • Excellent ability to foresee possible technology issues and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Experience in the analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, hardware, software, networks, etc.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments.
  • Experience with programming and scripting to integrate data and processes.

Work Environment

  • Extremely fast paced, multifaceted, and often high pressured.
  • This is not a typical Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., 40 hour a week position. This individual MUST have the ability to work flexible hours, and be “on-call” for rotating shifts.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day and requires travel to and from the various locations at which Brett-Robinson operates its business.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
