Prairie Bluffs is excited to announce we are looking to add a FT Life Enrichment Assistant to our continually growing team!

JOB SUMMARY

This person provides ongoing programs designed to meet the interests and physical, social, spiritual, sensory and psychological needs of all residents in Memory Care, Enhanced Care and Assisted Living.

Implement assigned activities that help residents achieve “their best day”, filled with a wide variety of meaningful relationships and activities.

Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly life enrichment programs and events.

Creating diverse opportunities for meaningful pursuits, daily pleasures, recreation, exercise, friendships, music social interaction, growth and learning, fun and enjoyment, spontaneous activity

Participate in outings and special events.

Drive the company handicap bus as needed (Must have a valid driver’s license.)

This person also helps the Life Enrichment Director with the assessment of resident abilities, limitations, and preferences related to activities.

Duties involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays.

30-40 hours per week availability preferred but can be flexible if needed.

Supervised by: Life Enrichment Director

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent.

This person may also be a therapeutic recreation specialist, an activity professional and/or have an educational or musical background

Experience: 1 year of experience in a social or recreational programming, specifically working with people that have dementia within the last five years.

Assigned Tasks

A. Provide activities appropriate to the needs of the residents in Memory Care and Assisted Living that includes, but is not limited to:

· Group social activities.

· Creative activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama, educational programs

· Exercise activities

· One to one attention

B. Encourage resident participation in activities and document attendance.

C. Empower residents to develop interpersonal relationships, socialize effectively and develop confidence to participate in individual and group activity programming.

D. Remind nursing staff and HHAs of activities scheduled and residents who desire to participate..

E. Follow the instructions for the activity as directed.

F. Maintain supplies in an orderly manner, notifies supervisor of supply needs in a timely manner.

G. Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance and independence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lead musical programs: Talent in singing, playing piano/keyboard or other instrument and comfort in leading musical activities.

• One year experience in an assisted living, memory care, independent living and/or long-term care environment.

• Detail-oriented as well as creative

• Interact closely with people in memory care, their families, and visitors to provide an effective caring environment.

• Reporting medical concerns or observations.
