Creative Alternatives, Inc. is a non-profit human services organization based in the Central Valley of California. Our primary functions include the operation of Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) facilities for foster youth with mental health needs, placement of children in private foster homes and nonpublic schools for grades K-12.

JOB DESCRIPTION

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Financing, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred. Must have a minimum of 2-years’ experience with Accounting, Payroll, Finance, Budgets, Medi-Cal billing, or related field.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Proficient in Medi-Cal billing.
  • Proficient in Payroll.
  • Deadline-Oriented, Managing Profitability, Accounting, Audit, Financial Skills, Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Research Skills, Statistical Analysis, Business Knowledge.
  • Meet all minimum fingerprint background requirements set forth by Community Care Licensing.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Good driving record: Department of Motor Vehicles printout required.
  • Meet all state licensing and insurance requirements.
  • Successful completion of LIC 503 Health Screening Report and TB clearance.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to bend at the waist.
  • Must be able to read, write, and visually see clients.
  • Must be able to hear with or without the use of hearing aid(s) sufficient to hear conversations with others, understandable voice, and speech patterns.
  • Must be able to physically operate office equipment sufficiently as needed.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must have use of hands to handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must frequently lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 lbs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director in all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $22 million and supervise a team of 1-2 staff members.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary to oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary to maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary in all audit activity.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director and leadership as necessary in the annual budgeting and planning process; assist in reviewing all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Support the Finance and Accounting Director in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary in overseeing all financial, project/program accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with program budgets throughout the fund period; collate financial reporting materials for state, county, and corporate requirements.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary in managing organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the program directors; continuously collaborate with program leadership to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
  • Assist the Finance and Accounting Director as necessary in managing and tracking the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Send monthly attestations to appropriate counties.
  • Complete monthly invoice for billing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
