Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Reports to: VP of Clinical Services

Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized medical biller/coder to join our team in a high-volume occupational health and primary care medical practice. In this role you will analyze medical billing and coding for processing.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
• Follow-up with providers for any missing or incomplete documentation
• Ensure proper coding on provider documentation
• Handles co-pays, balances and charge posting
• Commitment to high level customer service
• Working knowledge of medical jargon related to primary care and occupational medicine
• Use Athena for commercial and corporate insurance billing

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with ICD-9 codes and procedures required
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in medical coding
• Prior experience with Athena preferred
• Licensure, certification required prior to hire
• Personal computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, research, reporting, and accessing medical information systems
• Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, knowledge of Electronic Medical Records software; Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrates proficiency in cross training and information sharing
• Functions well in dynamic, high volume clinic, goal-oriented, organized team player

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to sit for 6-8 hours at length with occasional standing, walking intervals; required use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Contingencies:

Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug testing (federal panel), physical exam, background check, and motor vehicle report.
