Position Summary: Medical Records/Health Information Specialists perform all facets of electronic medical record maintenance in Epic to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Essential Functions

• Scanning, importing, and indexing patient encounter information
• Retrieval and indexing of paper chart documents
• Monitoring fax queues for medical record requests
• Answering phones and returning patient messages
• Distribution of patient prescription and insurance requests
• Release of information requests
• Ensures the accuracy of patient charts and follows provider workflow requirements

Education/Qualifications

• High School diploma required
• Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience preferred
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and basic medical terminology
• EMR experience, Epic preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
