Duties

• Serve as the Infection Control Program Manager with responsibility for oversight and management of all aspects of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, Fort Campbell and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital?s (BACH) Infection Control Program.
• Formulate, revise, evaluate and improve the hospital?s infection control policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with and maintain standard precautions, standards for sterilization, disinfection and sanitization throughout the hospital and in field healthcare training sites.
• Present accurate infection control reports and data to the Infection Control Committee and outside agencies.
• Direct, assign and supervise routine surveillance for healthcare acquired infection in the facility and initiate any necessary special surveillance studies to determine the cause of any outbreak situations.
• Develop comprehensive performance improvement tools to monitor the implementation and practice of infection control policies and procedures and conduct continuous monitoring.
• Direct, develop and conduct Infection Control education programs for hospital personnel, non-patient care personnel, patients, families and outside organizations.
• Serve as an expert consultant to other military and civilian academic institutions on appropriate infection control policies and procedures.

• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
• This position may require the incumbent to work irregular tours of duty which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds is required.
