Job Description :

As an Ophthalmic Assistant who also assists with cosmetic procedures, you must be friendly and professional with all patients and staff, but also organized and efficient with your time. You will evaluate patients in the back office while providing support as needed to the front office (and vice versa). The goal is to complete all tasks accurately, with good customer service, in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and document medical history
  • Basic vision check and cosmetic patient evaluation
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports
  • Arrange outpatient surgeries and laboratory services
  • Check in patients and assemble patient charts
  • Diagnostic testing such as autorefractor, visual field testing and pachymetry
  • Facial photos for cosmetic documentation
  • Assist during medical and cosmetic examinations and procedures
  • Occasionally produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Calculate costs, accept payments and issue receipts
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
  • Organize and maintain the medical supplies inventory

Skills

  • Proven working experience and skills as an ophthalmic assistant or as a cosmetic surgery assistant
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and extreme service orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and patient management software
  • Certification as ophthalmic assistant or degree as medical assistant (preferred)
  • Basic math and computer skills

Qualifications: High school degree mandatory; Medical assistant degree, ophthalmic assistant certification or aesthetician certification preferred; One year's experience in ophthalmology or cosmetic medicine required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $28.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
We schedule patients so they will not cross in the waiting room. Mask wearing is enforced. We ask that patients who have Covid or have been exposed to Covid to delay visits for 10 days. Rooms are cleaned between patients and air filters run in rooms.
