Moog's Space & Defense Group (SDG) is hiring for a Project Quality Assurance Engineer in East Aurora, NY.

As the Project Quality Assurance Engineer, you are a primary motivator and contributor in identifying and initiating action to control and reduce variation into the design, manufacturing or A&T process. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities that will benefit A&T and manufacturing in terms of inspection cost optimization and product variation assessments. The incumbent plans and conducts efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation of statistical techniques. You will work in a shared environment devising new solutions for design and manufacturing problems.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Direct Supervision of Quality Assurance personnel (up to 10 Quality Engineers/Technicians) that support Supplier Quality Engineering, Supply Chain Inspection & Manufacturing Inspection knowledge and Calibration Services. This includes setting their workload and priorities, counseling and conducting performance appraisals.
• Supporting the SDG Business Unit Management Team executing the business operations.
• Use of analysis techniques such as SPC, complex statistics, capability studies, regression analysis and design of experiments.
• Train and educate functional groups in statistical concepts.
• Establish and monitor Quality engineering project budgets and schedules.
• Make independent and unreviewed decisions on most technical and process related decisions.
• Validate design problem solutions by performing capability studies and analyses.
• Document statistical analyses of design and test results with accurate and concise reports.

Minimum Requirements to be considered…

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technology degree and Eight (8) years ofdemonstrated knowledge of applied statistics, excellent problem-solving skills in a team environment and a depth of understanding achieved through experience in the design, manufacturing and assembly of complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, or electro-pneumatic servomechanisms
• A preferable option would be a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics and four (4) years of experience in engineering/manufacturing environment
• Thorough knowledge and application of Aerospace Standard: AS9100 or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal skills for frequent contact with personnel both inside and outside the company; maintaining close working relationships with Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials & Process Engineering, and Quality Assurance disciplines

Preferred:

• Practical knowledge and application of Aerospace Standard AS9145, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
