Description:

We are currently seeking a Safety Consultant to support our Health Safety & Environment Team based in our Mechanicsburg, PA office.

As a Safety Consultant you would be responsible for managing multiple client relationships and client projects, assuring adherence to contract requirements, professional standards, business excellence, and company values. You are required to possess thorough knowledge of several foundational safety programs and concepts.

The Safety Consultant typically:

1. Supervises at least two others per project

2. Manages single discipline projects with budgets under $10,000

Location: Mechanicsburg, PA

Essential responsibilities for this position include:

1. Project Management

a. Establish client and project plans aligned with service area objectives

b. Build and maintain strong client relationships

c. Maintain an active marketing/sales role for the company with emphasis on business development and service area growth

d. Participate in selecting project team(s)

e. Manage team workflow for maximum efficiency

f. Handle meetings, work sessions, and public hearings

g. Assist clients in selecting contractors as needed

h. Prepare change orders and addenda to contracts

i. Effectively communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with other service areas to maximize efficiency and customer service

j. Participate in interoffice scheduling with other project managers

k. Complete the project billing process on time

l. Assume ultimate responsibility for the collection of amounts due

2. Technical Leadership & Expertise

a. Maintain a thorough knowledge of several functional areas plus specialization in one area

b. Serve as a technical advisor and knowledge resource by training and assisting other team members

c. Develop team subject matter experts

3. Staff Management

a. Supervise, develop, and mentor any direct reports

b. Evaluate and anticipate knowledge and skill needs and ensure appropriate project staffing levels to meet them

c. Coordinate internal work activities internally to provide seamless client service

d. Set team performance standards to meet service goals of company and coach team members to achieve high performance

e. Hold direct reports accountable to meeting Success Plan and team goals

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree Occupational Safety / Safety Science / Safety Management or related field and 10+ years of experience in safety consulting
  • Advanced Professional Certification (CIH, CSP) and at least 5 years of experience
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel to field sites locally and overnight as necessary
