J & J Material Handling designs and delivers optimal material handling solutions for distribution, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, automotive industry, and more. J & J Material Handling is a sales and engineering-driven company with emphasis on mechanical and application engineering. Operating since 1985 and utilizing the latest graphical 3D simulation and AutoCAD design software, J & J has the expertise to analyze material handling needs, define solutions that meet production requirements, and deliver fully working systems.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Sales Rep in Lehigh Valley to drive Business Development initiatives throughout the Lehigh Valley area. This is a Remote/Field Sales position. We are looking for an autonomous and self-driven individual with a keen ability to identify, develop, and acquire strategic relationships with key customers. The position requires daily travel through the region. While the ability to adeptly utilize various electronic, online, and social media platforms is expected, the person in this role must appreciate and understand the value of face-to-face client interactions and be skilled in securing meetings with key decision-makers. This is not a passive customer-service role – we are looking for an independent and ambitious individual to build a strong book of business.

The ability to be home-based, to dictate one’s schedule, and to succeed in a non-micromanaged environment are among several exciting perks of this position. Job Responsibilities:

  • Building a strong book of business accounts by identifying, developing, and acquiring strategic relationships with key customers through the designated territories
  • Designing and delivering winning proposals for qualified projects
  • Reviewing bid proposals and upcoming project documents to respond and pitch Company products and services in an aggressive and timely manner
  • Analyzing customer needs to develop appropriate business solutions, utilizing a full scope of products and services
  • Communicating detailed design criteria and project scope to planning and design teams, to facilitate the production of design drawings, bill of materials lists, and proposals
  • Developing Project Estimates to strategically secure business in accordance with Company guidelines
  • Closing transactions and processing orders
  • Supporting Installation teams by communicating with customers during Install projects and following-up afterwards to ensure client satisfaction, while exploring additional sales opportunities for add-on projects or supply orders
  • Investigating and resolving customer issues
  • Attending trade shows and conducting educational product introductions to targeted audiences
  • Attending monthly sales meeting to communicate current and future projects, and to discuss pipeline of open proposals

Travel/Shift Requirements:

  • This position will require daily travel within the Lehigh Valley region and travel to client sites
  • Travel to trade shows

Experience Required:

  • 1-2 years’ experience selling material handling systems and related products preferred; otherwise, 2+ years sales experience required
  • Ability to read and work with CAD designs and blueprints
  • Previous Sales Support or Customer Service experience a plus

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency (GED, ABE, etc.) required
  • Military training a plus (highly desirable)

Software Required:

  • Microsoft Office proficiency required
  • Ability to develop proficiency with internal software platforms to track and process customer data, projects, and sales transactions
